About the Program
The Hoop of Learning Program is a collaboration effort between the University of Nebraska– Lincoln (UNL) and Southeast Community College (SCC) to create a college bridge pathway program for Indigenous 10th through 12th grade students in the Lincoln Public School District. Students will enroll in SCC general education college classes that will give them both college and high school credit.
Summer semester class includes: ACFS 1015 Student Success (1 credit). This course introduces students to Southeast Community College and the academic and personal skills necessary to be a successful student. This class is Pass/ No Pass. ACFS 1015 will be on Thursday evenings from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Southeast Community College Campus on 84th & O Streets. Nikki Menard will be the teacher of record for this class.
Students who participate in this program will receive the SCC Learn to Dream scholarship (based on income) to pay for tuition and fees, and a $500 stipend per semester for personal expenses. Students who do not qualify for the Learn to Dream scholarship will be responsible for their own tuition and fees. Students must have a 2.0 GPA or higher to qualify for this program, and they must maintain a 2.0 GPA for their high school and college classes while they participate in this program as well. Upon successful completion of The Hoop of Learning Program, students will receive college credits from SCC and high school elective credits from LPS.
