An Indigenous College and Career Pathway Program
The Hoop of Learning Program is an indigenous college and career program for high school students and their families to learn about the programs and services that the Lincoln Public School District, Nebraska Indian Community College (NICC), Southeast Community College (SCC), and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) have to offer. The program will coordinate these programs and services to better inform indigenous students and their families about these education institutions.
Students and their families will develop a cohort who will support and encourage one another to enroll, to retain, and to graduate from these institutions. The cohort of Hoop students and their families will receive academic, financial, and cultural advisement as they progress along their college and career pathway. Students and their families will attend classes that will focus on college and career success and Native American culture and history. Students will participate in informational and cultural events throughout the year as well.
